Q1. What is Global Math Challenge?
Global Math Challenge is a online math contest presented by Sony, supported by Japan Prime Math Olympic Committee and is proud to be a part of the Global STEM Alliance. The questions have been designed to be enjoyed by both children and adults, with a focus on questions that encourage the use of logic and flexible thinking.
Q2. What age groups is Global Math Challenge intended for?
We have prepared four age-based courses so that people of any age can enjoy the test. If you would like to read more about the courses on offer, please visit the Courses page.
Q3. Can I take part for free?
Yes, you can take the test for free by registering for the Trial Plan. If you select the Standard plan, you will receive a wealth of extra materials including illustrated explanations for all quizzes, an assessment of your results and more, all with the aim of helping to improve your math skills.
How to use this site
Q1. How can I take part in Global Math Challenge?
If you haven't registered an account, please visit the Sign Up page. You can also easily sign in using an existing Facebook, Google+, Amazon, Google Classroom or Edmodo account. Depending on the number of Challengers you want to register, you can select either GMC for Home or School.
Q2. My family and I would like to register. What should I do?
You can register up to 4 Challengers per account with the Home Plan. If you would like to have more than 4 Challengers, please create another Home account or select GMC for School.
Q3. I am worried about that something might appear on my timeline when I sign in with a Facebook/Amazon/Google+ account.
Please rest assured that we will never post anything to your timeline without your permission.
Q4. I’ve already signed up, but I haven’t received a verification mail.
There is a possibility that the verification email went into your spam folder. Please make sure to set your filters to accept emails from @global-math.com. If you would like to receive a verification email again, please request us to resend it from here. If you’re still having problems receiving the verification mail, please contact us directly.
Q5. I am twelve years old. Can I create an account?
No - please ask your parent or guardian to make an account for you. All children under twelve must be supervised by a parent or guardian, aged 18 or over, when they are using GMC.

Q7. It seems like my account is temporarily locked. How can I unlock it?
Repeated use of an incorrect password may lock your account for your own protection. Please request an email to unlock your account here.
Q8. Can I see both my School details and my Home details with one account?
Yes, you can. If you would like to see both your School and Home details under one account, please go to Settings, and in Account Information, and tick 'Show Switcher'. By using the Switcher, you can easily move from your Home to the School pages.
Q1. Will Global Math Challenge run smoothly on my computer?
Q2. Can I take part in Global Math Challenge with my smartphone?
It is possible to take part in GMC using a smartphone. However we recommend that you use a PC or tablet to get the most out of the challenge. Please remember to make sure that your browser is updated to the latest version for the smoothest experience.
Q3. Can I use a tablet?
Yes, you can play GMC on a tablet. If you’re using an iPad, please ensure you are using at least iOS7. With Android tablets GMC will work with Android 4.4 and above.

About the challenge
Q1. When is the test?
Please go to the About page to view the test schedule.
Q2. I am an adult. Can I take part in GMC?
Yes, you can take the test in the Open course. The Open course has been designed for users of any age. If you would like to know more about the courses, please visit the About page.
Q3. What course should I choose?
We have prepared nine age-based courses so that everyone can enjoy the test. Please read the descriptions on each course and select the one that fits you best. Confident Challengers who excel at math might even want to try a higher grade than their actual age.
Q4. Can I register for more than one course?
We’re sorry but a challenger can only try one course. You can register up to four challengers per account, so why not try taking part with family or friends?
Q5. Can I change the challenger information after I register?
Yes, you can change challenger information. Please go to the Settings page from the top-right of the screen of the front page, after signing in.
Q6. The test time differs depending on where you are. Isn’t it unfair?
Global Math Challenge is for testing your own math skill. Please observe the rule with good sportsmanship. We may suspend an account when we believe the user cheats.
Q7. Can I upgrade from the Trial Plan to the Standard Plan?
Yes, you can upgrade to the Standard Plan at any time. Please sign in and visit the Plans page to upgrade. Once you upgrade to the Standard plan, every challenger on your account can take advantage of all the benefits found on the Standard Plan. If you add more challengers to your Standard Plan account at a later date, they too will be able to access the extra features.
Q8. I have registered for the Standard Plan. Does it stay in effect for the next Global Math Challenge?
No - the plan is only valid for this edition of Global Math Challenge. Please register for the plan again in the next Global Math Challenge.
Q9. I received a School Code from my teacher. How can I use this?
Using the School Code from your teacher means that you will be able to take part in the contest along with your classmates. Log in to your home account and use the School Code when you register for the contest.
Q10. Can I change my course after I finish registration?
If you haven't started the test, you can select your course from here.
GMC for School
Q1. What is GMC for School?
GMC for School is a special version of GMC for schools, clubs and organisations that need to manage the information of a large number of challengers. Up to 1000 people can register under one GMC School account.
On the School Page, you can generate IDs and passwords for every challenger so that everyone can take part the test easily. Teachers do not need to mark the test - all you have to do is pass out IDs & passwords to students, take part in the challenge and we will deliver the results.
You will be able to see the results and answer analysis of every student, every class and your school as a whole. You can also see how your students stand in comparison to other students in your country and worldwide with the Global Math Rankings. Explore analysis of their performance and enjoy illustrated explanations for each question. You can download the results in several formats including Excel and PDF.

Q2. Is there a free version for GMC for School?
Currently GMC for School is not available for free. If you select GMC for Home, you can take part in Global Math Challenge with the free Trial Plan.
Q3. How many people do I need to use GMC for School?
You can create GMC School account with 5 or more people.
Q4. What are Classes?
You can create Classes under your School. By assigning Challengers to the classes, you can check their results by many categories such as their actual Classes, regions, ages and so on. A Challenger can belong to multiple Classes.
How to pay
Q1. How can I pay for the Standard Plan?
Please note that available payment methods will differ depending on the currency you are paying in. Check the Payment Methods page for further details.
Q2. What currency can I pay in?
We can accept payments in US dollars, Japanese yen and Chinese Renminbi.
Q3. Can I cancel the payment?
Q4. Can I get a receipt for my payment?
Yes - you can download a PDF digital receipt after you have completed the payment process.
